Being a Boss Without the Burnout.

As someone who tries my best to give 100 percent to everything I do, I also have to constantly remind myself not to burnout.

Throughout elementary, middle and high school, and even through college, I have always worked to achieve my goals. Now that I am a career woman, I am even more driven—I also try my best to stay driven while working from home.

Here’s what a typical Work From Home (WFH) day looks like for me:

  • Wake up.

  • Wash my face and brush my teeth.

  • Take a shower and put on a nice, comfortable outfit for the day (I might put on a more business professional outfit if I have an important meeting or a presentation to give).

  • Drink a glass of water.

  • Make a cup of coffee, tea or blend a smoothie (somedays I will drive to Dunkin’ or Smoothie King instead.)

  • Write down my agenda for the day in my planner or on sticky notes.

  • Start working! (This could be a conference call, developing strategies, creating agendas, conducting research, or whatever else is planned for the day.)

  • While working, I like to get up and make meals or snacks to keep myself energized and to step away from the computer. I also might go on a midday run!

After I’m done with my work for the day—somedays are later than others—I try to make it a mission to do something for myself to avoid burnout. This can be anything from going for a walk to dancing in my room to some of my favorite music. However, it’s not always easy for me to shut everything off and take time to download.

Here are some things that I like to do to recover from a long day, week, month, etc.! I hope that these can be helpful to you all too!:

  • Make yourself a nice dinner. I like to find recipes online, and listen to music while I cook.

  • Watch something on Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, etc. —it doesn’t have to be anything serious; it can simply be a show you enjoy.

  • Make yourself some hot chocolate or hot tea. It’s something about warm drinks that make me feel very relaxed.

  • Read a book. This sounds cliche, but it really helps, and it stops you from spending so much time scrolling through your phone (especially before bed.)

  • Call a friend or family member and catch up. During a pandemic, it’s not easy to see people, so talking to your loved ones always helps.

  • Put some energy into your hobbies. Do you like to blog? Run? Sew? Knit? Use some of your down time to master your craft.

  • Get some physical activity in. You can do yoga on a mat in your living room, or go for a run in your neighborhood. Dancing alone in your room is also a physical activity.

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think!
